Cyclone Separator

Cyclone separators are used to remove liquid and solid impurity substance in gas or liquid stream. The method can also be used to separate fine droplets of liquid from a gaseous stream.

Cyclone is made based on the centrifuge principle. Gas to be filtered flows into the top (wide end) and ends at the bottom (narrow end), forming the cyclone flowing style. Due to the density difference between liquid and solid and strong centrifuge separating influence, solid impurity substance falls down to the bottom side, meanwhile cleaning gas flows up away.

Due to the working principle, cyclone separators are usually made in vertical style. They are widely used in the occasion where amounts of liquid and solid impurity substance exist.

Gas cyclones are widely used in industry for the separation of particles from gas and air streams, while water cyclones, also known as hydrocyclones, are used for the separation of fluids of different densities. Cyclones are popular because they are simple and inexpensive to manufacture, require little maintenance, contain no moving parts, and have the ability to operate at high temperatures and pressures.
